Outreach

At Zinc Arts, outreach is at the heart of what we do. We work across Essex with schools, youth services, community groups and local partners to engage people of all ages through creative, inclusive and educational opportunities that support personal development, wellbeing and aspirations.

Our outreach programmes support young people and adults from a wide range of backgrounds, including those experiencing social isolation, young parents, care leavers, people with disabilities, and individuals who may be vulnerable or facing barriers to education, employment or community participation. By working directly within local communities, we create welcoming spaces where people can build confidence, develop new skills and form meaningful connections.

Our project leaders deliver weekly after-school youth clubs in and around Ongar. These welcoming and inclusive sessions provide a safe space for young people aged 11–16 to meet friends, learn new skills and take part in a wide range of activities, including cooking, arts and crafts, sports and creative workshops. Young people also have access to one-to-one support from experienced youth workers when they need it.

Our outreach programme also includes school holiday activities, cooking clubs, art projects, health and wellbeing workshops, community events and targeted support programmes, all designed to make opportunities accessible to those who need them most.

Over the years, we have been proud to work alongside organisations including Active Essex, Sport England, The Essex Community Foundation and many other valued partners and funders. Together, we have supported children, young people, adults and families across Essex, using creativity, education and community engagement to improve wellbeing, reduce isolation and create positive opportunities for everyone.

Whether supporting a young person to build confidence, helping a care leaver develop independence, providing opportunities for a young parent to reconnect with their community, or reducing loneliness through creative activities, Zinc Arts is committed to making a lasting, positive difference in people's lives.
