About Us
Welcome to Zinc
Zinc is a community, arts and education charity located in Ongar, Essex.
We are based in a beautiful Victorian building which allows us to provide a space which is both historic and contemporary. With traditional workspaces, modern theatre for up to 120 people, residential accommodation and parking for up to 50 cars.
Who are Zinc?
Zinc is an Ongar based charity working with vulnerable, disadvantaged adults, children and young people. This includes working with individuals with disabilities, learning disabilities, mental ill-health, deprivation or isolation. Zinc provides arts, education and positive participation activities for the local and wider community throughout Essex and further afield.
Our Team
Our team of passionate individuals seeks to promote inclusion and equality. We are extremely proud to have been working in our field for over 30 years, providing specialist participation for those individuals or groups for whom accessing and taking part in high quality arts activities is challenging or even near to impossible.
Our Vision
We believe that providing opportunities for all, regardless of background, to discover and fulfil their potential will lead to more rounded, happy and inclusive societies. Zinc works with organisations throughout the country to provide bespoke programmes, both nationally and in Zinc’s fully accessible building, for those who find it difficult to engage with mainstream education, exploration and self-advancement. Our work also helps to build soft skills including self esteem, team work, problem solving and improved communication as well as providing positive role models and mentoring.
“Understanding the benefits that an inclusive society brings, we support participants to become positive and inspiring members of the community. "
